Discover the architectural beauty of the Koutoubia Mosque, wander through the labyrinthine souks brimming with local crafts, and uncover the secrets of exquisite palaces and insightful museums. In the afternoon, escape to the tranquility of the Menara Garden and the vibrant artistry of the Majorelle Garden, before experiencing the modern charm of the Gueliz district.
Today, we journey through the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is the iconic Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a cinematic backdrop for famous movies like Gladiator and HBO’s Game of Thrones. We’ll then continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Sahara,” to explore the renowned Atlas Film Studios and a historic kasbah within the city. Our journey continues through the picturesque Valley of Roses, famous for its annual festival, before reaching the stunning Dades Gorge, where you’ll settle into a local hotel or riad for the night.
Prepare to be awestruck as we explore the Todra Gorge, a magnificent narrow canyon cherished by outdoor enthusiasts. Our route then takes us through the verdant Ziz Valley to Erfoud, an oasis town known as the “Gate to the Sahara Desert” and renowned for its unique fossils. You’ll have the opportunity to visit a local factory showcasing artisanal products made from fossils, and perhaps find a unique souvenir. Next, we drive to Rissani to experience its vibrant local souk before making our way to the threshold of the desert: Merzouga. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable riad or hotel.
Dedicate an entire day to exploring the mystical Merzouga Desert. You’ll have the freedom to choose your adventure, whether it’s a thrilling camel trek across the dunes or a comfortable 4×4 exploration. We’ll also visit Khamlia village, famous for its traditional Gnawa music. As the sun begins to set, prepare for an unforgettable experience: we’ll leave our vehicles behind and embark on a mesmerizing camel ride into the heart of the dunes, guided by experienced locals. Our destination is the Merzouga Desert Camp, where you’ll spend the night in traditional Berber tents. This spectacular evening will be made truly special with a unique and traditional starlit Berber dinner, accompanied by tribal music around a warm desert campfire.
Rise early to witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise over the dunes, a truly magical moment. After a camel ride back to our hotel and a refreshing breakfast, we’ll begin our journey north. We’ll pass through Rissani and Erfoud before stopping for lunch in Midelt, nestled in the scenic Atlas Mountains. Our day concludes in Fes, one of Morocco’s most captivating imperial cities, where you’ll check into your hotel for the night.
Step back in time as you embark on a comprehensive guided tour of Fes, exploring its ancient alleys and vibrant streets. Discover the grandeur of the Royal Palace gate and delve into the rich history of the Jewish Quarter. Our sightseeing includes iconic cultural and historical sites such as the prestigious Al-Qarawiyyin University (the oldest continually operating university in the world), the vibrant Chouara Tanneries, and the revered Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. The afternoon is yours to further explore the fascinating Medina before enjoying a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. You’ll spend another night in Fes at your riad or hotel.
Today, we’ll gain a deeper understanding of Fes, which is comprised of three distinct parts: Fes el Bali, the ancient walled city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 9,000 narrow streets; Fes-Jdid (New Fes), home to the Jewish Quarter; and the Ville Nouvelle, the modern sector established during the French occupation. Later in the day, we’ll drive to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city, before continuing to the vibrant metropolis of Casablanca.
Our final day begins with a visit to Casablanca’s main attractions, including the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel towering over the Atlantic Ocean. Then, after lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll drive back to Marrakech, where your incredible Moroccan adventure concludes.
